16" 8.5mm Black Gold
Pearl Tincup Choker
14k yellow gold chain and clasp
These are a rather special variety of freshwater black pearls. All freshwater black pearls are treated with a radiation/dye process that produces a variety of tones -- from black/black, through black/reddish, copper-color, peacock, black/green, black/blue, silver and others. There reportedly up to 25 different color variations possible.
This 16" Tincup choker is a beautiful and unusual golden copper variation.
The pearls are extremely well matched for size, shape, color and luster. (We found 10 matched strands of loose pearls in Beijing in August 2006 and, struck by the color, size, quality and beauty of the pearls, purchased the entire lot.)
We chose the "Tincup" design, with 14k yellow gold chain and clasp, to complement pearls of this quality. This "Tincup" design, inspired by the 1996 film of the same name, became so popular that it can now be considered a classic style. These black pearls are unusually large for round high quality freshwater, 8.5-9 mm.
The choker can be matched with single or double dangle earrings in the same pearls (See below).
